The Alien Empire of The Cluster Series

The Empire is an older civilization deep inside the Cluster.

They believe that every new star is a gift to the Emperor from the gods, and that they endure because they protect Sentients from the barbarians. They have advanced sub-light ships capable of 1/4 C ... they have sublight communications and commerce ... they are at war on their inner borders with the Grand Alliance and the King of the Wise.
